[SI-LIST] can a bus hold circuit amplify crosstalk?

Can a bus holder amplify crosstalk?

The circuit consists of a bus holder in a receive buffer, that is driven by
buffer with a 50 ohm source Z (so a somewhat weak driver), and this driver
is on another board with a backplane in between.

The signal trace picks up xtalk while traversing the backplane. The bus
holder in the receive buffer sees this xtalk, the holder was at a "0", but
now this looks like a "1" and so it tries to toggle the line.

The receive buffer in this example is a 54abth32245 (5v).

The driver is a 54abt162244 (5v). Which is a relatively weak driver
(contains a 25 ohm series term).

When the driver is switched to a strong driver (54abt16244 @ 64ma/32ma) the
problem goes away.

Has anybody seen anything similar? Does this scenario look feasible?

Jim Peterson
