The first item would be that it gives you a reasonably realistic solution
when compared to measurements. After that you start getting into issues like
the ease of use of the tool, the user interface, learning curve, etc.
If you look back in time, a good tool is one that is reasonably easy to use,
that lets you solve problems at a rate corresponding to your design needs,
that agrees with reality more often than not, and is not overly high priced
so that you can create a reasonably large user community that share
methodology, detect bugs, and force the tool vendor to improve, quickly
address bugs, and add the features they need/want. Someone else can identify
the 5th characteristic.

Subject: [SI-LIST] What is imporatnt in a simulator?
Hi folks,
I work in the area of Em simulation since 1995
but since then I have a basic question I never completely replied
what make a simulator ...a good tool?
I would like to discuss with you about a very basic question
what you consider really important in a simulator..
what are the first 5 characteristic that make a simulator a real
design tool?
Giancarlo
