[SI-LIST] Validation of spiral inductors

Hi,

I have a basic question. I am simulating different spiral inductor models on
silicon substrate using ansoft HFSS. I want to find out whether my inductor
gives proper performance in all aspects or not.

First I started with a square gemetry. I followed an IEEE paper and got the
results for Q factor and inductance as in the paper.(for my understanding).
Also I extracted the equivalent circuit by following the published papers. I
observed that the inductance Ls and the underpass capacitance Cs resonate at
a particular frequency. At this point the admittance Y12 becomes zero.

When I changed the geometry from square to circular, I am not able to get
that resonance between Ls & Cs. Eventhough I am getting the same graphical
curve patterns for 'L' & 'Q' factor, I am not seeing the zero admittance
condition. If this is the condition, how can I extract the values of Cs in
the equivalent lumped model?

Can anyone explain why it happens? Also, is there any way to validate the
inductor model?

Thanks & Regards,
Radhika.
