Beware of organic coating materials: They have a dielecric constant and =
losses which are different from air or from FR-4. Be sure you read the =
specs and understand their behavior at high frequencies.
Several companies including Agilent make excellent pulse and pattern =
generators with sub-nanosecond rise times. I know the SI-list isn't =
supposed to include commercials, but please refer to =

Subject: [SI-LIST] Trace coating!
Hello!
I am new here so forgive me my ignorance, but I have two questions:
1. Has anyone of You considered influence of trace coating (organic
coatings, hard gold, electroless nickel gold plating etc. - what =
thickness
of each layer is the most suitable and as always cost effective) on high
speed circuits, especially pulse circuits with pulse times less than =
1ns.
2. Does anyone know the other way to generate subnanosecond pulses than =
step
recovery diodes and shorted transmission lines and their modulation
techniques?
Thank You in advance
Pawel
