Zhangkun,
The Least Squares method is a generic approach in modeling and
approximation of
statistically varying values. You can find the definition and
description in text books
dealing with measurement principles and/or parameter identification.
Keep in mind
that this way -just like with regular averaging- you can suppress (but
not eliminate)
random components, but not deterministic (called 'bias') components.
