Each program possesses important advantages and disadvantages; however, HSPICE offers greater capabilities. The Avant! Star-Hspice Manual contains detailed sections on transmission line (both lossless and lossy) modeling, and a chapter devoted to use of IBIS models. The books entitled, "Digital Signal Integrity Modeling and Simulation with Interconnects and Packages" (by Brian Young) and "High-Speed Digital System Design A Handbook of Interconnect Theory and Design Practices" (by S. H. Hall, G. W. Hall, and J. A. McCall) also present instructive descriptions of transmission line modeling and I/O buffers.
