SPECCTRAQuest, now called Allegro PCB SI, has a spice based engine under it. It supports IBIS models, Macro Models for more complex devices with pre-emphasis (see post by Ken Willis on SI-LIST on 12/09/03 http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/message/10093) as well as Quad XTK models.=20 Re "To get the most out it (SQ), you need HSPICE": you only need HSPICE engine when the models are ENCRYPTED HSPICE models. only HSPICE can un-encrypt encrypted HSPICE models.=20 Hemant Shah Product Marketing=20 Allegro SI +1-978-262-6327=20 -----Original Message----- From: si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:si-list-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jonathan Swift Sent: Thursday, May 06, 2004 11:29 AM To: gil.gafni@xxxxxxxx; Si-List Cc: gil.gafni@xxxxxxxx Subject: [SI-LIST] Re: SpecctraQuest Vs. I've found that both tools are very good at what they do. Hyperlynx is a IBIS simultor and is a fine tool for simulating sub 1G devices and models however it starts to fall over at the higher speeds and more complex systems. SpectraQuest is a very robust tool but to get the most out of it you need a HSPICE license, pushing the price of the tool up. However I've used it for simulations up to 10Gbps. Another tool to consider is ICX from Mentor Graphics. This uses the ELDO simulator (Mentors own SPICE simulator). It others comparable features to SpectraQuest but you don't have to get an addtional SPICE simulator. For all the tools most IC vendors offer good support in both models and deisgn kits.=20 Cheers, Jonathan =09 =09 =09 ____________________________________________________________ Yahoo!
