Differential Channel"

     Today=B4s high-speed backplanes are pushing the limits of what can =
be
achieved on conventional copper printed circuit boards. Gigabit data
rates require extremely fast edges on signaling transitions that present
tremendous challenges to signal integrity. To maximize high bandwidth
performance of backplane channels, designers utilize differential
signaling technology with advanced design, measurement and modeling
techniques. This presentation will discuss the important factors when
characterizing the physical layer of a differential channel utilizing
both time and frequency domain measurements, including impedance
profile, crosstalk, insertion loss, return loss and mode conversion.
Advanced test instrumentation will utilize novel probing techniques to
create topological models for use in advanced design software.
