[SI-LIST] Re: [!! SPAM] Short-Medium term consulting

The general si-list job posting policy is:

1) Solicitation by headhunters, recruiters, HR people and such is
discouraged. There are other more appropriate venues for their
activities. If they do it once or maybe twice they may either be ignored
by the list management or thrashed with a wet noodle. Activity that
becomes problematic because of continual use may result in certain
technological measures being implemented to ensure compliance with the
policy.

2) Job postings by hiring managers and working engineers seeking to
find people to fill positions in their organizations are allowed. All
follow-up should be taken off list. (i.e. provide alternate means of
contact such as e-mail, a website, phone #, etc.)

3) Though there haven't been many list members who have publicly made
their availability for employment known on the list, I don't see
anything intrinsically wrong with the concept as long as potential
employers take any follow-up contact off list.

Any employer or job seeker shouldn't abuse the allowable uses described
above (i.e a couple postings are OK, daily or weekly posting the same
info repeatedly would be frowned upon. Just use your best judgment and
do_the_right_thing...)

I hope that clears up any questions.
