Hi Terence,
I'm not sure how did you check the loss property of the transmission =
line. Actually there are many ways to verify the skin effect induced =
loss increment in high frequency range.=20
For example, you may extract the S parameters of the W element. Then you =
may see eig(S*S') decreases as frequency goes up, which means the system =
becomes more and more lossy as frequency increases.
Hope this helps,
Jinghua

Subject: [SI-LIST] Rs in W-element
Dear all
I have a question about W-element in Hspice. When I use
W-element presented by RLGC Matrix,
the matrix parameter looks as below
.MODEL singleline W MODELTYPE=3DRLGC, N=3D1
+ Lo =3D 3.149855e-07
+ Co =3D 1.061570e-10
+ Ro =3D 2.745859e+00
+ Go =3D 0.000000e+00
+ Rs =3D 1.166330e-03
+ Gd =3D 6.225371e-12
=20
In Hspice manual description, the resistance with skin effect is=20
R(f)=3DRo+(square_root f)(1+j)Rs
For different frequency there should be different resistance
performance.
However, even I simulate with very high frequency (several Ghz), the
loss of the transmission line is the same.=20
I have set the INCLUDERSIMAG=3DYES, and also modify Rs to a big value. =
The
loss never changes.=20
How could this happen? Is there some setting I missed?=20
