I have two immediate openings for engineers with strong backgrounds in
electromagnetics, microwave engineering and nonlinear modeling. The
positions are located in Tempe, Arizona, details below.
If there is interest in one of the positions please contact me directly:
Peter Aaen
Manager RF Modeling Team
RF Division, Freescale Semiconductor Inc.
Tempe, Arizona
email: Peter.Aaen@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Phone: 480.413.6505
Department Description: The RF Division (RFD) of Freescale Semiconductor
Inc., is the global leader for RF power semiconductor solutions for the
wireless infrastructure equipment market. The division designs a broad
portfolio of RF LDMOS and GaAs Power discrete transistors and RFICs to
service numerous RF markets including wireless infrastructure, broadcast
and industrial, scientific and medical markets.
Position #1: RF/Microwave Modeling Engineer: Electromagnetic modeling
Main responsibilities include the electromagnetic simulation of circuits
and components used within our high-power transistors. Modeling work
requires electromagnetic simulation, microwave characterization, model
development and implementation of the final model within a non-linear
circuit simulator. The position will concentrate on the electromagnetic
simulation of passive circuit elements for the development of
product-level models and models used within our design process. The
position will require the individual to work closely with design
engineers, product engineers, and application engineers for successful
and timely model delivery.
Specific Knowledge/Skills: Candidate will hold a MS degree preferred in
electrical engineering, physics or related technical field and have a
minimum of 1 year direct experience with electromagnetic simulation and
microwave measurement. The engineer must also have a strong background
in Microwave and RF engineering with an emphasis on several of the
following areas:
* Detailed knowledge and experience with Ansoft's High Frequency
Structure Simulator (HFSS) and planar electromagnetic solvers (Sonnet's
Em and/or Agilent's Momentum).
* Microwave measurement techniques (Pulsed S-parameter and DC
measurement, Sparameters, VNA calibration techniques, spectrum
analyzers, power meters, etc).
* Strong background knowledge with Agilent's Advanced Design System
(ADS).
* Strong communication skills.
Position #2: RF/Microwave Modeling Engineer: Nonlinear modeling.
Main responsibilities include the characterization and modeling of the
linear and non-linear circuit elements used with our high-power RF
transistors developed for the wireless infrastructure market. Modeling
work requires microwave characterization, electromagnetic simulation,
model development, and implementation of the final model within a
non-linear circuit simulator. The position will concentrate on the
extraction of the non-linear models and the development of product-level
models. The position will require the individual to work closely with
design engineers, product engineers, and application engineers for
successful and timely model delivery.
The individual will be involved in activities related with
investigations of techniques for accuracy improvement and implementation
of LDMOS transistor models, model, development of passive component
modeling methodologies, for planar and non-planar circuits and the use
of these passive modeling methodologies to develop product level models.
Specific Knowledge/Skills: Candidate will hold a minimum of an Masters
degree in electrical engineering, physics or related technical field and
have a minimum of 1 year direct experience with microwave measurement
and calibration techniques up to 20 GHz. The engineer must also have a
strong background in Microwave and RF engineering with an emphasis on
several of the following areas:
* Microwave measurement techniques (Pulsed S-parameter and DC
measurement, Sparameters, VNA calibration techniques, spectrum
analyzers, power meters, etc).
* Strong background knowledge with Agilent's Advanced Design System
(ADS) , Ansoft's High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and planar
electromagnetic solvers (Sonnet's Em and/or Agilent's Momentum)
* Development, generation, and extraction of semiconductor device
compact models with experience in programming (e.g. C, Verilog-A,
Matlab)
* Behavioural-level modeling
* Passive component modeling
* Electromagnetic simulation of passive structures
* Strong communication skills
