Hi Dorin,
I do not know how big could be this effect ....
but in any case
if you want simulate it you have two possibilities
1) take in account the effect of humidity and dust
including it in the em characteristic of the dielectric substrate
i.e using a sort of equivalent substrate...
you must then make a parametric analysis and see the effect of a change
of the parametrs
If you use HFSS you may take advantage from sensitivity and statistical analysis
2)you must include in your model a very thin dielectric layer with a sort
of equivalent dielectric constant that will take in to account
the effect of a dust.
In the first approach you should know how umidity and dust affect the
dielectric characteristic
in the second you should know the characteristic of dust....
and mesh a very thin layer that is not easy to do....
Hope this helps
Giancarlo
You should then make a parametric analysis

Oggetto: [SI-LIST] Dust and humidity impact on the signal
Hi,
I try to simulate the dust and humidity impact on 10G differential
signal routed as micro strip on the board. I know that the dust
thickness and humidity can vary significantly, but I wonder what would
be a good approach, for start, to build the corresponding model in a 3D
simulation tool (suggestions on dk, df).
Thanks,
Dorin
