[SI-LIST] Re: Modeling Pre-Emphasis in IBIS

The best way (which may not be possible according to the design of the
circuit) is to break the circuit (SPICE DECK?) up into individual functional
units and then make an IBIS sub-model for each of these and then add the
timing scheduling.

If this is not possible, then do the same thing virtually by direct control
of the input control signals to produce the various pre-emphasis stages in a
controlled static and dynamic manner.

These things are hard to do sometimes but can usually be accomplished if you
have direct access to some low level circuit simulation description.

Subject: [SI-LIST] Modeling Pre-Emphasis in IBIS

Hi,
I'm looking at trying to model a SerDes with pre-emphasis in IBIS using a
driver schedule approach. My signal has 4 levels: high-high, med-high,
med-low, and low-low.
The output is CML. My question is how do I extract the correct IBIS data
for each level? For example, how do I get the I/V data for just the
high-high state? The pre-emphasis is only
for one bit period. Would I use a long clock so it stays high-high long
enough to get the data? Any examples, articles, info would be appreciated.

Regards,
Tim
