Aubrey,

  Yes, that question occurred to us as well--whether or not there was an 
internal path for current leakage that would increase the internal temperature 
beyond some critical threshold.  The manufacturer claims that the leads are 
connected solely to the coils, and we have confirmed this by tearing open a 
defective one to verify.
