Job Description 
As Senior EMI/EMC Engineer at Extreme Networks, you will be responsible for
ensuring our products are designed and tested to verify compliance with
worldwide EMC requirements. This is a hands-on EMC engineering and testing
position. Working closely with design teams, you will be involved in product
development from conception through final release to ensure that EMC
compliance is "designed-in." from the start. You will work with development
engineering teams on EMC issues at the schematic, PCB and system level, and
analyze test results with diagnosis of problems to recommend effective
solutions. You will also be responsible for establishing EMC test plans,
coordinating testing, solving EMC issues and generating reports on EMC
compliance.

The position requires a BS in an electrical engineering or science degree
with five years minimum EMC design experience. The candidate must have PCB
level EMC design experience and the ability to work effectively with minimum
assistance. Excellent communications and organizational skills are
essential. 

The Senior EMI/EMC Engineer will work as a member of a cross-functional team
and will be responsible for the design and implementation of EMC solutions
on Extreme's products. The candidate must be highly skilled in PCB level EMC
design as well as EMC enclosure design. The candidate must be skilled in EMC
debug techniques and must be able to accurately perform emissions and
immunity testing on information technology equipment (ITE) products. The
candidate must have knowledge of international EMC regulations, standards
and test methods. The candidate must be able to travel internationally. Good
verbal and written communication skills are needed for this position.

Additional consideration will be given to experience with standards writing
and knowledge of world wide wireless regulations. Other duties include, but
are not limited to, test report writing, test plan and test procedure
writing, cost reduction EMC evaluations, second source component evaluation.

As a member of the Advanced Development Group at Extreme Networks, the
Senior EMI/EMC engineer will work closely with Signal Integrity engineers to
assist and ensure that our high frequency and high bandwidth products of the
future are free of degradation due to cross-talk and other high frequency
effects. For this reason, experience with 3-D electromagnetic modeling
software such as CST Microwave Studio, Ansoft HFSS, and/or Sigrity SpeedXP
is highly desired.
Key Outputs:
1.Products which comply to international regulations for electromagnetic
compatibility (EMC) and other mandatory standards.
2. Products which comply with other voluntary standards considered a
priority for successful market penetration as identified on a product family
basis (i.e. NEBS, ETSI, or IEEE standards).
3. Design reviews, preliminary testing, and troubleshooting/support of
engineering to achieve the above goals without delays in market introduction
for compliance reasons.
4. Follow up investigations to ensure ongoing compliance of products in
order to enable continued and unimpeded market access.
5. Analysis of noise, high frequency, high voltage, and transmission line
effects to assist with quality and signal integrity objectives.
6. Participation in international EMC standards development to guide new
regulations and ensure access to global markets.
7.Change management : Co-ordinate review of potential EMC impact for all
proposed engineering and manufacturing changes


Responsibilities:
1.Hardware Engineering : Electrical, Mechanical and Printed Circuit Board
designers will rely on you to communicate requirements clearly and
review/evaluate their proposals throughout the development.
2. Signal Integrity: The Advanced Development group will utilize you for
analysis of EMC related signal integrity issues such as cross-talk and board
and chip level power distribution and decoupling analysis.
3. Power Engineering: Power Engineering will rely on you for guidance to
design and troubleshoot of both AC and -48VDC power supplies to meet EMC
requirements (conducted and radiated emissions, surge and fast transients
immunity)
4.Components : Component Engineers will require your assistance evaluating
new suppliers and parts.
5.Compliance and Legal : Compliance and Legal Staff will require your
assistance to evaluate changes in EMC regulations 
6.Change Management : Operations and Change Management Staff will depend on
you for quick and effective analysis of the EMC impact of proposed product
and manufacturing changes
