Hello Nagammai!,
I feel that the device mentioned (2)
Converts Single-ended Input Signals into Differential Signals for driving
long lines that are intended for EXTERNAL WORLD applications. But if u r
looking for this conversion within ur PCB say the i/p is for a high speed
ASIC then option2 is not desirable as it is bulky.
why not consider some devices (in ur design) like VNF6PECL155 that take
either single/diff. PECL s/l ?
Or try for interface devices from Micrel(Synrgy)
Regrads,
Prasanna

Nagammai,
There have been a few posts recommending approaches for designing your input
circuit. If you don't have access to the circuit at that level (e.g. you're
interfacing to an existing piece of equipment), then there are two other
options:
1) AC-couple into one of the inputs (only if your duty cycle is near 50%)
2) Use an external device to convert the signal to differential
We have two products that do the latter, either our dual channel PECL
receiver/line driver:
http://www.pulseresearchlab.com/products/differential/prl-430/430main.htm
or our 1:2 PECL fanout buffer, which can also take single-ended inputs:
http://www.pulseresearchlab.com/products/fanout/prl-431/431main.htm
Both are available in PECL, NECL and LVPECL versions. HTH!
