[SI-LIST] Re: Insertion and Return Loss

Hello Avtaar,
Insertion loss is the decrease in power of a signal as it travels through a
network.
The equation for 2 port:
port1 ---------- port2
IL = -20logS21
Return loss is a ratio of power reflected to power incident on a network.
The equation for 2 -port:
RL = -20log|S11|

What is the meaning to insertion loss, and what does return loss mean? Can
someone give me their formulae in the form of S Parameters?
