Charles-
You are right- there are a lot more than 4 confusing topics in signal
integrity.
As many of you who know me rightly perceived, once you push my play button,
I can talk for an hour on just one slide. I had to be very selective in just
4 topics that I have a chance of covering in just 1 hour.
Deciding which are the "4 most important" topics is really easy as long as I
use the Jimmy Buffet analysis: "it must be 5 pm somewhere", or, there must
be somebody to which each of these topics is the most confusing.
I chose the topics of:
What is characteristic impedance
What is differential impedance
What is inductance
What is loss
I welcome the input from others on what other topics are confusing. Please
feel free to drop me a note off line or post it to the group.

Subject: [SI-LIST] IEEE EMC talk Oct 9 in Santa Clara
Hi folks-
=20
For those of you planning to be in the Santa Clara area on Tues Oct 9,
you
might like to visit the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the IEEE EMC
Society,
where I will be giving a talk, "The four most confusing principles in
Signal
Integrity and how not to be confused."
=20
The url for this meeting is: =

I've also posted a copy of the slides for my talk on my web site,
www.BeTheSignal.com <http://www.bethesignal.com/> under the Feature
articles and presentations tab and then under the "collected power point
presentations" category. It's free for download.

Hope to see you there.
