[SI-LIST] Re: IBIS creation

Hello, Darshan,

According to the IBIS specification, only the I/O cell is used in creating
the IBIS model for the I/O buffer. The majority of IBIS models are created
from SPICE, since they can be created earlier in the chip design flow. Test
data for making IBIS models is only available after the silicon has been
fabricated.

The IBIS Cookbook has just been updated, and is a good place to find
answers.

Best regards,
Lynne

Subject: [SI-LIST] IBIS creation

Hello Everybody,

I am curious to know about the method of creating IBIS model. I was going
through couple of Application Notes from different vendors and looks like,
some vendors use SPICE model and extract the IBIS model. Some vendors do Lab
measurements and create the IBIS model. Could you please tell me which
method is the most popular or rather which method is good to use to get an
accurate IBIS model? I think if we do Lab testing, the probe capacitance may
degrade the accuracy of IBIS data. What you guys think about this.

Thanks,

Darshan Mehta
