Joel:
I assume the Vitesse driver is in encrypted HSPICE so you need HSPICE
(Synopsys) to perform a SPICE to IBIS translation. It is much more difficult
and time consuming with differential, CML type logic with various
pre-emphasis levels to create good quality IBIS models but it can be done. A
simple CMOS buffer is really easy with spice2ibis.
It seems like you need to get an HSPICE license to finish your simulations.
Now that it can use frequency dependent S parameter data to perform time
domain simulations, it has become much more powerfull for us SI people. The
investment in one seat is a very small fraction of the cost of respinning a
board.

Subject: [SI-LIST] How to convert Hspice model
I recently requested an IBIS model for a part made by Vitesse.
Vitesse responded by sending a Hspice model and said that IBIS does not
work well at 3 Gbps.
I am using Hyperlynx simulator. It can co-simulate with Hspice but we do
not have Hspice simluator.
Hyperlynx can simulate using the following models: .EBD, .IBS, .PML,
SPICE, S-Parameter (Touchstone).
I have seen programs that convert Hspice to Ibis but I am not sure if I
will loose the high frequency modeling of the Hspice file.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how to handle this Hspice spice
model without having an Hspice simulator.
