I may be able to help on the simulation side, if you would be willing to 
work with CST Microwave Studio instead of HFSS.  We've been using CST 
for the past 2 years with extremely good results.  CST is a Finite 
Integration Technique time domain full wave solver that has the 
advantage of a large dynamic range and the ability to work with 
extremely complex structures.  We've performed modeling and simulation 
with CST up to 40 GHz.  Others have used CST for higher frequency 
structures.
