Agilent has a couple "brochures" that give an introduction to these:

5989-4823EN - is a "poster" that summarizes the jitter components
5989-3206EN - White paper: "Jitter Analysis: The Dual-Dirac
        Model, RJ/DJ and Q-Scale"
5989-3151EN - App Note: "Fast Total Jitter"

There are also a number of app notes related to testing / measuring
jitter with their equipment.
