Thanks Swee-Ann;
It's a good question, in the HFSS model (generally speaking ) is there
capacitive coupling between the wire and the port ?

justin,
the wire has some self-capacitance, referenced to some ground plane. it has
some self-inductance too, which u observe below 6GHz. the L and C resonants
at 6GHz. the dielectric-air interface might increase the self-capacitance of
the wire by a little, depending on what's the dielectric constant. it's also
important to define and choose your reference plane carefully as grounds are
often not perfect.

No other structures. Model was a 150X150X125 mil high dielectric box with a
10 mil dia X 125 mil long copper rob running down the middle of it. I am
trying characterize a via and its' interaction with ground planes.
Thanks
Justin

Justin,
Were there any other metal structures in the model? What and where were
the boundaries?
