Hi Mike and the group,
In the past few years there have been some papers at the EOS/ESD
Symposium on protection devices for equipment. Their website is
http://www.esda.org
Having said that, how the device is connected will likely dominate the
type of device used. A conductor can easily have more than a hundred
volt per cm drop across it as it conducts ESD current. If mounted on a
board, normal layouts will render the device useless! Where and how do
you plan to mount the device relative to the device being protected?
