Muhammad, I didn't read anything that cannot be regarded as anything other
than complimentary in Brett's post. I think rereading it and retraction maybe
in order.

Brett,
While I appreciate your candor, I have posted jobs openings which are pure Si
work in the past. As you may already know a good bulk of EMC control
and good design practices has to do with Si and that I find very relevant to
this board's interest specially during these times of high unemployment.
I have gotten significant amount of interest in the position from people who
follow the list and have solid Si background.
Also please forward questions and comments directly to me and no need to copy
the entire list.
Thank you,
Mohammad

Mohammad,
Having written quite a few of these postings myself, I fully understand how a
positions' scope can grow to the capabilities of a solid candidate.
While I'm not currently looking for a new position, I appreciate your posting a
relevant job opening to the SI-List.
Thank you,
-Brett

Hi Acgalletta,
Your opinion is respected. We are all hard working engineers and have paid our
dues to earn our degrees. Unfortunately you are making assumptions and not
knowing exactly the details of what the current PhDs are working on I am afraid
your comments are baseless and speculative at best.
With respect to the current position, the responsibilities and the scope of the
job can extend itself all the way up to a PhD level as there is significant
amount of research and analysis that would be best fitting for someone with
that background, yet a BSEE could still manage to perform the bare minimum and
may be more based on experience. Hope this clears it up.
Best,
Mohammad

Hi Mohammad,
One thing that troubles me is... If the scope of the job is beyond the post and
really needs a PhD then why is the minimum requirement for a BS?
I highly doubt you need a PhD. They're better off in project management and
overseeing chip tapeout, but for testing, I think a BS EE or Physics can
suffice.
Sorry, but I feel your PhDs are underutilized. Let's not devalue PhDs. Let's
also give more respect to graduates w/ a BSEE. Afterall, a degree in EE is HARD
work.

Dear Charles,
Believe it or not we have 5 PhDs in similar capacities performing test
functions. The scope of the job goes beyond what I posted and requires a lot
more analysis than just test-taking. If you paid attention I also mentioned
that the minimum required for the job is a BSEE or BS in Physics.

Dear Mohammad,
I almost never reply to these sorts of posts but this is an exception.
So let me see,,you want a Phd - who know simulation tools and EM theory. This
person will then be assigned testing functions.
Really?!!

Subject: [SI-LIST] EMC Test Engineer Opening at Broadcom
Hi Everyone,
Broadcom has an EMC Test-Engineer opening here at the Irvine head-quarters. We
are seeking a hands-on engineer who has performed compliance testing on
Ethernet devices preferably using CISPR 22 and FCC Part 15(Class A+B) with 5-10
years of experience. This person will be responsible for taking measurements in
the chamber, recording and reporting the results and debugging failures. A
thorough knowledge of Electromagnetism is required with a BS, (MS or PhD
preferred) in electrical engineering or physics. Knowledge of Ansoft EMI
simulation tools a real plus.
Please send your resumes directly to

Thanks,
Mohammad
