Jon,
I woder how do you overcome the layer problem in ASM500, will it be able to
read the stack up information, so that I don't have to "manuelly" do the
setup. It is currently very time consuming to me to do the stack up setup
for every dxf file.

If ASM500 can do the translation "completely", ie without work on the setup
once the files are transalted, any idea how much it will cost?

Tim:  you may have a couple options.  

One would be to convert the Gerber files to .dxf and use the
Maxwell/Translator/AutoCAD-DXF translator to get it into HFSS.  Artwork
Conversion Software (http://www.artwork.com/) has a product called ASM500
that will do the gerber to dxf conversion for you.  As I understand it, this
is the method that Ansoft recommends.  I have used ASM500 in the
dxf-to-gerber mode several times and found it to be pretty reliable.

Another option (if you have access to Cadence Allegro) would be to import
the layout into Allegro, then use AnsoftLinks-for-Allegro to import the
Allegro.brd file and generate the models that HFSS wants.

Alternately, you might poke around Artwork's web page.  They may have a tool
that will do the whole thing for you.

Of course, if you can get Orcad Layout to generate dxf files instead of
gerber, then you wouldn't have to buy anything since HFSS could translate
the layout itself.

I wonder does any one in the si-list have any experience in converting Orcad
layout files into Ansoft HFSS or SI3D? I wonder is there a way to do so?
Does any one know there exists a software will do this conversion?
