I've successfully used MiniSATA 4X cables (SFF-8087) for a
board-to-board XAUI link. It has the added advantage that it is a
standard PC disk drive cable, so it is very inexpensive (~$20 for a 18"
cable). I believe they are rated for > 5Gbps. The 36 pin version is
the most available. Eight extra "sideband" non-differential signals are
available to use for other purposes. Many cables omit the sideband signals.
