Dear alan
I have meet some similar problem to that=2E The ESD engineer want the cha=
ssis ground not connected to the signal ground=2E The EMI engineer said t=
hat the chassis ground and signal ground should be connected by capacitor=
=2E The SI engineer want the two ground be connected directly=2E
I have meet some SI problem when the chassis ground is not connected to t=
he signal ground=2E If the two ground are connected directly=2C I suggust=
that the power ground noise should be cared=2E =
Best Regards
Zhangkun

=3E Hi Experts=2C
=3E I am using a metal cage that protrudes through the bulk head of a =
=3E product=2EIn the past=2C we connected the pins of that cage to ground=
=
=3E through 1000 pF
=3E caps=2E While monitoring this list a few months ago=2C there was a l=
ong
=3E discussion on the connection of logic and chassis grounds=2E
=3E =
=3E My question is this=3A Is it better to use the 1000 pF caps to tie t=
he
=3E chassis ground to the logic (signal) ground or better to tie the =
=3E two grounds
=3E directly together=3F I am interested in both SI issues and EMI issue=
s=2E
=3E =
=3E Thanks=2C
