Hi All, I have not followed this thread fully, however as a PCB designer with over 15 years experience as an electronics technician and a continuing student the price is not that ridiculous. My Calculus book alone cost $130 not includeing the student solutions manual that I had to buy. Professional books are very costly and thier quality range from OK to good. While in the service and working on Radar systems in the late 80s, I spent $130 for the "RADAR HANDBOOK" by Skolnick. This was extreamly costly then, but the contents are unmatched. So, if you want to see the content of the book to determine it's relative personal worth, see if you can review it at your local university or public library. First, I want to thank everybody who responded with links and book references as it has all been useful input. Second, $125 is a relatively high price for a book but why is that a problem for people? If you are offended, don't buy it. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. I have textbooks from college that cost $80 and some are worthless due to the fact that they are poorly written and are not at all applicable to the real world (i.e. my DSP text book). Relative to that, $125 for a useful reference is not a big deal. As somebody else suggested, I get my company to buy books that I believe are good references and it probably costs more than $125 to process the paperwork. Keep in mind that some EE contractors make $125 per hour, so while I believe that the book is relatively expensive, I think calling it "rediculously" expensive is...well....relative. Welcome to the wonderful world of capitalism. -Chris > -----Original Message----- > From: Koudssi@xxxxxxx [mailto:Koudssi@xxxxxxx]=20 > Sent: Monday, November 03, 2003 8:54 PM > To: steven.salkow@xxxxxxxx; youssefk@xxxxxxxxxx;=20 > leeritchey@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Cc: si-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [SI-LIST] Re: Books/references on power/ground distribution >=20 >=20 > Hi, > $125 for a book is ridiculously expensive. >=20 > Regards, > BK >=20 >=20 > ------------------------------------------------------------------ > To unsubscribe from si-list: > si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field >=20 > or to administer your membership from a web page, go to:=20 > //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list >=20 > For help: >=20 > si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field >=20 > List archives are viewable at: =20 > //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list > or at our remote archives: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages=20 > Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: > http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu > =20 >=20 ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List archives are viewable at: //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list or at our remote archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu ------------------------------------------------------------------ To unsubscribe from si-list: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field or to administer your membership from a web page, go to: //www.freelists.org/webpage/si-list For help: si-list-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'help' in the Subject field List archives are viewable at: //www.freelists.org/archives/si-list or at our remote archives: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/si-list/messages Old (prior to June 6, 2001) list archives are viewable at: http://www.qsl.net/wb6tpu
