 These blocking caps are often utilized to prevent voltage spikes from
damaging inputs when you hot swap modules. Depending which module you
intend to hot swap (driver or receiver) dictates where the Cap belongs.
Unless you are including all of the parasitics for pads you probably won't
see simulation differences. Depending on frequency, edge rates and layout
rules you may observe a difference in the lab.
