[SI-LIST] An interesting EMI story

My young son has lots of cool night light type gadgets on a table next
to his bed. One of these is a "plasma globe". It's a glass globe that
uses high voltage to generate lightning bolt streamers to a point on a
glass globe where you touch it.
We just discovered that if his new digital alarm clock gets within about
30cm of the globe while it is on, the clock digits start counting wildly.
Perhaps this would be a good cheap EMI susceptibility test. You can get
a plasma globe for around $20.
Regards,
Chris
