A couple of well-made points here. There seem to be three groups of people on
this list:
1. The Signal Intelligista
2. The (largely lurking) Middle Class
3. Newbies
Each group has its highly vocal contingent, and each group has its lurkers ...
The #2's above being lurkers by nature. (I.e., quietly watching the debate.)
I, personally, don't mind it when a couple of 1's go at it. I don't have much
stomach for it though when a 1 attacks a 3, or vice-versa. I agree that
newbies should do their homework, but it's unrealistic to expect them to
compete initially with 1's and 2's. It would be cool, and beneficial for all
parties if we could avoid dissing people that have different backgrounds ...
Compliment and respond to good points, and ignore e-mails that you're not
interested in.
