Stefan, There was a discussion on this topic back in 2001. If you search '2.5D SI-list', you should be able to find it. Anyway, my point is 2.5D (solver) as a name is OK just because of the historical story. But the D has nothing to do with the fractional theory as claimed in the original paper simply because it does not match any of the definitions of Dimension in math or physics. It is a mis-use of the advanced fractional concept. If you are interested in it, please check any advanced math handbook that includes fractional theory.
