[SI-LIST] Re: 8-layer PCB stackup

Kevin,
Of the two I prefer stackup B, because overlapping of two power planes is
not good, and Stackup A does not have any power plane decoupling. However,
unless 5V and 12V are distributed all over the board, I will try to
combine the two on the same layer as in the following stackup. This
provides good power plane decoupling, and every signal layer has a Ground
layer for return.

1 Signals
2 GND
3 Signals
4 +5V and +12V
5 GND
6 Signals
7 GND
8 Signals

Which of these two PCB stackups is better?

Stackup A:

1 Signals
2 GND
3 Signals
4 +5V
5 +12V
6 Signals
7 GND
8 Signals

Stackup B:
1 Signals
2 GND
3 +5V
4 Signals
5 Signals
6 +12V
7 GND
8 Signals

Thanks,
Kevin
