[shell-coding] Re: Show of hands

After re-reading that memo, sounds like a really good plan to build an SDK/Engine for shell coding? Im not the greatest coder, so handling all the hard parts are hard for me. I have more fun working on themeing engines, and the fun details. If anyone is interesting in building a project, I would love to help!

Yo, kids! A show of hands? Who's still here?

I've been talking with Teo (from blizzle); I'm trying to bring this
list back. I'm tired of stealing code and having to make it mesh
properly all by myself. I'd rather work on (old) new problems, as
Chris (ironhead) and I did with regards to getting AutoPlay working in
emerge (how's that going, by the way?).

I haven't fully fleshed out what I want to happen, exactly, as it's 9
in the morning here, and I've only had one cup of coffee. But I do
know that I want to work on more interesting stuff, rather than rehash
old problems, or work in isolation. I'd like to tackle, for one
thing, the problem of Open/Save dialog boxes not refreshing on file
creation. Chris has made some headway on that one, but we're stuck,
currently. I'm pretty sure more heads would be better on this one.

By the way, Chris and I work on different shells. As you well know,
Chris works on emerge; as for me, I'm the author of siaynoq, a tiling
shell for Windows, based heavily on dwm, larswm, and ion
(http://dpi.sourceforge.net/).

As I've said, I'm still foggy on the details, but I'd like to know if
anyone else is interested. Most of us are stealign code from each
other, anyway (well, except for siaynoq; no unique code there for you
guys to steal); what I'm proposing is making it easier and faster to
steal code, work it into our respective shells, so we could all go
back to working on the fun, interesting bits.
