[School-GNU-Linux] ver 3.0 problems

i am using ver 3.0 in my pc ,configurtaion of my pc is dual core 1.6 intel
gcnl motherboard, 1 gb ddr 2 kingston 160 gb samsung sata hdd, samsung dvd r/
rw sata. while installing ver 3.0 somtimes it takes almost 2 hours. when it
completes in 20 - 25 minutes, grub never comes and shows "not bootable device
,insert bootable device". I tried using grub reintallation method using gnu
troubleshooting intructions from gnu web site, but shows message" error
creating grub, it is a falal error". While installing with 1Gb zion hynix ram
it takes almost 2 hours and linux never start up .I tried with another same
configuration p c , the result was same.
Please give me solution for these problems as soon as
possible so I can start using gnu immediately -my pc uses xp professional also.
