Do you mean voice chat or just text? Try Pidgin/gaim. Do you have net
connection working?

for iP1000. Vimal there is driver rpm available from from pixma site.
Google "pixma iP1000 linux" and first link give you the driver page.
Can we convert it to a deb? I guess there is a deb floting around in
ubuntu forums. I'm not sure how "free" it is.

Install hplip and run hp-setup as root.
