newer distributions which uses xorg xserver will work even with out a
mouse. I'v noted some problems with serial mouse. In that case you can
reconfigure the xserver (dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg) and select the
mouse port as /dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttyS1

Try right clicking the clock applet in the panel and select the
preference. check/uncheck the mark on UTC option.

Did you download and installed the patch from :
http://malayalam.web4all.in? If there is still problems, try re
installing the debian-openoffice-patch from the CD.

It is not possible to install openoffice 2.4 in IT@School gnu/linux as
it uses the latest libraries which is not in the it@school gnu/linux.
If some one provided a backported version of openoffice 2.4 for debian
etch it can be used. Try backports.org
