sir,
1. If the mouse is not detected or not working-some how- in a system where
School GNU/Linux 3.0 is trying to install, will it badly affect the X window
to start up? I read in some book like that. But I have seen that the X
window system in GSL 3.0 is working even when the mouse is failed. Is there
any such cases to note particularly?
2. Its about the system clock. The hardware clock is showing correct time.
The time zone selected is also correct. But the system clock shows incorrect
time (but not the date.) I tried the command *tzselect *and reset the time
zone and country once again but in vain. What can we do now?
3. Malayalam typing is still a problem. In my system, Malayalam typing is OK
in text editor, but not in Open office. I Installed *scim *and *all* related
packages to correct it. But the situation became worse then. Now I cannot
get neither *Chillaksharangal* but *koottaksharangal* also. I tried to type
and paste method from text editor to office packages but that also not
working.
4. My system is with Intel GCNL board with Hitachi SATA hard drive. When
shutting down the system I am getting the message
sda2: some disc may not be spinning properly. Update the shut down utility.
For details contact www.linux forge/updates. Its SGL 3.0 with kernel
2.6.23.What should I do now.
5. The open office working in my system is version 2.0. But 2.4 is available
in the net. I down loaded it and tried to install it. When I tried to
install it keeping Office 2.0, I got an error message of core conflicting.
Then I removed Office 2.0 and then tried to install office 2.4 using G debi
package installer. But then I saw the package core1 has dependancy with
core2. I tried to install core2 then, but it has dependancy with core1.
Mutually eating snakes! Please give us the correct way to install Open
Office 2.4.
6. As a keen observer and follower of the mails and responses in this site,
I heart fully appreciate Space and especially Vimal sir for setting up and
nourishing such a very helpful site. Even though all of us use this site, we
could see that the other end is highly focussed on Vimal sir. (I am not
forgetting Mr. James, Mr. Praveen and all others, but the field interest
seems limited. Mr. James is interested on localization of printers only, we
have high expectations on you, sir!) This points to the urgent need of
revoking a Linux expert support who could interact through this site. Of
course there are other mailing lists, but they concern some other things,
not the problems newbies like us. IT @ School should revoke our old efforts
to find support from expert groups, but not the local level hands on
support, but through this site. We may invite attention of the Linux experts
from collages and other firms. (They may not be aware of the situation.) I
hope there will be such a kind response towards we, humble followers and
worshipers of GNU/Linux.
