[School-GNU-Linux] Printer installattion

To add a printer select
Desktop->Administration->Printing
(if you are using IT@School GNU/Linux 3.0,you have to add print server from
CD2)
right click on New Printer select add...
Select the appropriate printer type
if your printer is a dot matrix printer select printer port also (
Parallel#1,#1........)
click forward
There are two type of parallel printers
(1) Epson
(2) IBM pro
select the manufactuer as (Epson,IBM or Generic)
If your selection is
(a) Epson
then select the model 24-pin Series or 9-pin Series corresponding to
your printer
(b) IBM
then select the model ProPrinterII
(c) Generic
then select the model
ESC/P Dot Matrix Printer
or
IBM-Compatible Dot Matrix Printer
At last press apply.
You can test the printer by
opening a text editor and try a test print.
Note: To add your USB printer
on the printer
open a root terminal give the command
printconf
