Sir,
In some schools, they have forgotten the ROOT PASSWORD and they are
enquiering the way to change it (without reinstallation) in recovery
mode.Kindly mail back immediately the steps please.
How to recover password in a GNU/Linux system
---------------------------------------------------------------
1) On the grub menu (booting time) use the 'e' key to edit the line
saying Debian GNU/Linux
2) Change 'ro' to 'rw' and append 'init=/bin/sh' to the end of line(do
not put quotes when you type in) and press enter.
3) Press 'b' to boot.
You will get a shell with #.
now you can use 'passwd' command to change the root password and
'passwd username' to change the password of a user.
Please note: Do not install examsoftware for GNU/Linux as root user.
Login as a ordinary user and install it. The installation script will
ask for root password.
Also you need to set the screen resolution as 1024x768.
If there is an problem running the software, please mail to this list.
Thanks and regards,
