A little humor for the group.... I remember attending the MSTV
Conference in Cincinnati at the start of DTV talks.  A fellow
representing the F.C.C. made the most profound comment.  

He said, "It's our intent to move all VHF stations into the digital
band because UHF is ideal for digital and it does not propagate out of
the stations coverage area."   

I stopped him in the hall at the break and questioned him about this.
I mentioned that as a ham and DXer I had seen many UHF stations, some
of which were hundreds of miles away.

He looked at me and said, "that is impossible, sir.  You must be
mistaken.  UHF does not propagate.  VHF does."
