DEADLINE: TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28
Since 1983, the Black Alumni Council has actively worked to attract bright
students to the University by providing scholarships to graduating high school
seniors who have excelled in school.
Richard Theodore Greener, the man for whom the scholarship is named, became the
first African American to graduate from Harvard University in 1870 and was the
first African American faculty member at USC in 1873.
Criteria Includes:
*Incoming freshmen may apply for this $8,000 award ($2,000 per year) sponsored
by the Black Alumni Council of the Greater USC Alumni Association.
*Applicants must present a score of at least 1000 on the combined SAT Math and
SAT Critical Reading sections (USC does not factor SAT Writing scores into
scholarship selection). Applicants must also have a minimum weighted
core-course GPA of 3.0 (as calculated by the Office of Undergraduate
Admissions).
*The award is based on academic achievement, leadership ability, community
service, and financial need.
*Application requires an essay.
*Awardees must attend USC-Columbia.
