MESSAGE FROM ST. ANDREWS MIDDLE SCHOOL:


To help teens learn the consequences of risky behavior, which often
increases during the summer, Palmetto Health is teaming up with You
First, Family Service Center of South Carolina, Youth Voices of Lower
Richland, and Project HOPE to hold a Teen Health Summit from 8:30
a.m.*4 p.m., Friday, June 1, at Benedict College*s gymnasium, 1600
Harden St.

Students in 6-12th grade are invited to attend this free event, which
will focus on youth violence and Internet safety. This year*s theme is
*Making Our Space a Safe Place.* Registration and parent/guardian
permission is required prior to entrance.

An interactive portion of the summit will cover topics such as dating,
sexually transmitted diseases, contraception, body image, self esteem
and pregnancy prevention. These topics also will be covered in a
separate session for parents

Teens who register for the summit before May 31 will be entered into a
drawing for a $500 shopping spree at Columbia Place Mall. Door prizes,
lunch and snacks also will be provided. Free transportation will be
provided by Youth Voices of Lower Richland to teens living in
Eastover,
Gadsden and Hopkins.
