This is an awesome out pouring of love and affection shown from the St. Andrews
Middle School family. I am happy and proud of you all for the love you have
shown. I visited Ms. Holmes on Saturday and she is remaining strong in such a
tough time in her life. Please continue to pray for her, visit when you can,
call or just send a card to let her know your're thinking about her. It is
always good to say you care but when you show how much you care as you all have
done, it makes the heart rejoice and the nation take note. Brittani, Catelin
and I won't forget about Ms Holmes and the life of their friend Eric.
Be Blessed

MESSAGE FROM ST. ANDREWS MIDDLE SCHOOL:
Eric Holmes, a former St. Andrews Middle School student, ended his battle with
cancer on December 31, 2007. As a result of his terminal cancer, Eric had been
featured on WLTX earlier in the year. Students at St. Andrews Middle School had
been donating money to assist with Eric's medical bills. Unfortunately, Eric
died before the students were able to present him with the money they raised.
On Thursday, January 17, 2008, Eric's mother visited St. Andrews Middle School
to accept the check in his honor. So overcome by the unselfish and kind gesture
of the students, Eric's mother called WLTX and asked Jocelyn Maner to video the
event. Jocelyn Maner was unable to make it and sent a representative.
Ms. Holmes wanted the media's audience to see what the children had done for
her son. The students participated in sock hops to donate the money. Each grade
level paid $0.50 to dance in the gym during their recess time (10 - 15
minutes). The Related Arts teachers were in charge of supervising the students
and providing the music. When the students were told the reason for the
fundraiser (to help Eric's family), many more attending the brief sessions. The
sock hops took place between the months of August and November. Eric's mother
was very grateful for the assistance from the school. The Student Council
president, Whitney Dykes, and vice president, Nicole Ruff, presented Ms. Holmes
with a check for $500.00 on behalf of the students at St. Andrews Middle
School.
