I agree with all and I must admit that it is hard for me to attend every
meeting at ST. Andrews espcially when I have a child in High School as well.
And usually when there is something for me to do at St. Andrews there is
something for me to do at Columbia High. As far as email, well I am one of
those single moms who don't have a computer at home, so I use mine at work
and pray I don't caught doing it. Who grade's the Schools? No one has ever
ask me to grade the school. I for one am very proud of St. Andrews. You
don't hear about violence, drugs, etc on the news like others districts. I
also know what my child is capable of and don't expect nothing less from him
or the teacher. I push them hard and rarely except any excuses. If there
is a problem I do ask the teacher for help. No matter what you are trying
to do you will always have a handful of concern parents that what to make a
difference and I am not sure how we will ever solve that problem. Just know
I will/want to do whatever is ask of me. Melissa Bowman...

Just would like to comment on Deborah's comment. Mainly, we are the ones =
who participate and visit the school. When I go to PTA meetings, Open =
House, Conferences, workshops, etc., I get responses from the teachers =
that I should not be there, my child is doing excellent. The parents =
that need to be here do not show up. =20
We all need to contact or communicate with our child's teachers; if we =
can't make it we need to contact them by email. I find that sending my =
child's teachers an email, asking how she is doing and if they have any =
concerns, really helps.

Hi Everyone,
Just to put a little emphasis on the message below. We must take a =3D
stand. A concern parent announced the same issue in church yesterday =3D
about our children's low ratings. This parent encouraged others to come =
=3D
out and start participating, getting involved with our children. We need =
=3D
to show or faces and concern in these schools!!!!!! I believe it is =3D
time for us as parents to come together!!!!!! It is time for the parents =
=3D
to come together and brainstorm a solution. Our children are as smart as =
=3D
others, it is just unforunate that they don't get the indiviual =3D
attention they need.
That is where we come in. Our kids need us in and out of the classroom!
I know time is valuable, as for me church, home, work and etc absorbs a =
=3D
great deal of my time, but I am willing to squeeze something else in =3D
there as important as assisting our children.
We need to form Tutoring teams to assist our kids. We must make this =3D
sacrifice, not just to help your kids but to help others too.

Subject: [samscommunity] School Report Cards
Just to voice some concern, I am an involved parent and try to make sure =
=3D
=3D3D
that my kids get what they need and more from their education, but =3D3D
yesterday in the paper I say the report card for a lot of District One =
=3D
=3D3D
schools and was very disappointed. What is happening? Why is it that =
=3D
the =3D3D
"other" schools are getting better ratings than our schools? I'm =3D3D
concerned about this and want to find out what I can do to help solve =
=3D
this =3D3D
problem because I want my children, and that's any child that I can be a =
=3D
=3D3D
parent to, to get the best education possible. But it seems that if we =
=3D
=3D3D
don't live in the predominantly white neighborhoods, our children are =
=3D
left =3D3D
behind. Tell me who I need to address on this matter because something =
=3D
=3D3D
needs to be done about this matter and fast before our children are =
=3D3D
