Young Girls Encouraged to Get Their Feet Wet 
 in Science and Technology at ETV's Science Splash!
-- And Boys Are Welcome Too!
 
Columbia, SC... On Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the grounds of 
ETV's Telecommunications building will transform into a massive science 
laboratory. Under the microscope will be a FREE event that peaks young girls' 
interest in the science, math and technology fields.  
 
The event, called Science Splash!, is a festival designed to entertain, educate 
and inspire middle-school girls  to stay involved in technology and the 
sciences, by showing them the wealth of careers available to women in these 
fields. Aimed at girls ages 10-14 -- and boys are also welcome-- Science 
Splash! will offer plenty of opportunities to:
 
*          Perform hands-on experiments
*          Explore high-tech technology
*          Meet inspiring female engineers, pilots and scientists
 
The FREE event will also feature the Splashdown Dunking Booth and 
"gravity-defying" rock climbing wall, a moon walk, food vendors, music, door 
prizes and more.  Anyone interested in bringing a young girl to the event

ETV's Telecommunications building is located at 1041 George Rogers Boulevard in 
Columbia, South Carolina.   Funding for Science Splash!  was provided by the 
National Science Foundation, ETV, Knowitall.org and SCE&G.
