MESSAGE FROM ST. ANDREWS MIDDLE SCHOOL:


Vision Health Initiative
Does your child have a problem seeing? Does your child frequently complain =
of headaches? If so, a vision examination may be needed.

Here's how it works. School nurses perform vision screenings for students =
in kindergarten through12th grade in Richland, Lexington and Fairfield =
counties. Those students who are identified as needing follow-up care and =
who are underinsured or indigent are eligible to receive free comprehensive=
 eye examinations performed by board certified, licensed optometrists. The =
examinations take place at rotating community sites throughout the county. =
During the examination, parents and children are educated about the =
child's diagnosis and proper eye care.

If the child is found to need glasses, they are allowed to choose the =
frames they like best. When the glasses are ready, they are delivered to =
the school nurse who then gives them to the child. If they should happen =
to break or lose their glasses, one additional pair will be provided at no =
cost.
