[samscommunity] National Groundhog Job Shadowing Day

7th and 8th Graders are being encouraged to participate in the National =
Groundhog Job Shadowing Day on Monday, February 2, 2004.

The program allows students to "shadow" a parent, other relative or =
trusted family friend on their job for a day.  This is a good way for =
students to gain insight into the world of work and observe a "career in =
action." =20

8th graders will receive initial information about this opportunity in =
their homeroom classes this week.  Interested students are to sign-up in =
Ms. Hatcher-Franquiz's office by Tuesday, January 20th at which time they =
will receive parent and employer information and a permission slip.

7th graders will receive fliers this week.  Those students who are =
interested in participating should complete the tear-off section on the =
bottom of the flier and to return to their homeroom teacher or to Ms. =
Shealy by Tuesday, January 20th. These students will receive the additional=
 information and the permission slip form.

Permission slips are due Tuesday, January 26 and at that time students =
will receive an observation form.  Students MUST complete the observation =
form and return it to their counselor on Tuesday, February 3 to have their =
absence excused.

This is an excellent opportunity and rewarding experience for both the =
student and the shadow!
