[samscommunity] Healthy Hoops Program for Students with Asthma (Fall Challenge)

MESSAGE FROM ST. ANDREWS MIDDLE SCHOOL:




Select Health of South Carolina and its partners created the Healthy
Hoops Program to improve the quality of life for children with asthma.
The program educates youth on the importance of exercise, nutrition and
prevention. They will learn that they can be active in playing sports
like basketball. Healthy Hoops participants must be 7-15 years old, live
in South Carolina, have asthma and be accompanied by a parent or
guardian.

The Healthy Hoops Fall Challenge will be held on Saturday, October 7 at
the USC basketball practice facility at 600 Assembly St. Registration
opens at 9 a.m. Call 866-HOOPS-SC to inquire about transportation. The
Fall Challenge includes a free one-day basketball camp with instruction
and tips from the pros, asthma management and education sessions and a
basketball shoot-out contest.

A kick-off celebration for the expansion of the Healthy Hoops Program
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 at the USC basketball
practice facility on Assembly.
